In Colossians 2:6-7 we find the biblical model for building disciples. “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Not only should we as a church be seeking to help people become grounded in Christ by receiving Jesus as Lord, but to also to grow in Christ by being rooted and built up in Him. Once an individual becomes truly grounded in Christ and grows in Him, he or she will possess an abundantly grateful heart, overflowing with humility and eager to demonstrate that gratitude through a willingness to serve. We at First Baptist Church have a vision, a sincere desire that ALL people COME to know Christ personally, CONNECT with others in Christian fellowship, and faithfully COMMIT to serve Him that His will be done. As such, it is our desire that First Baptist worship services be a time where all people can COME to know Jesus Christ, discover who He is, come to know Him intimately and ultimately enter into a personal relationship with Him. Our small groups and programs are designed to provide ample opportunity for all people, regardless of age, ethnicity, education, political affiliation, or family situation to CONNECT spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually and be encouraged as they grow in their relationship with Christ. And our ministries are designed to provide the opportunity and resources to enable our body of believers to use their God-given gifts and COMMIT to service. In Ecclesiastes 3 we are told that “there is a time for everything” including in verse 3 “a time to build.” When you consider the vision of our church and our desire as disciples to build up people for Christ, the time to build is now! Let us join together as one church, one family of believers with singular vision and a generous spirit, and watch as the Lord blesses our church and our ministry BEYOND MEASURE!
