WORSHIP SERVICES

At First Baptist Church we offer a number of opportunities for corporate worship with fellow believers. On each Sunday three worship services are held:

8:30 a.m. For the early riser
10:50 a.m. Following Sunday school
6:00 p.m. A perfect way to end God’s day

Our services are traditional with newer elements blended in as appropriate. See the example bulletin below for the worship elements of a recent Sunday.

A Worship choir usually fills the choir loft at the 10:50 service. Occasionally, our men’s group, the “Hims of Harmony” will sing at the 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. services. Once a month the entire evening service is conducted by our Senior high and Junior high youth groups. Special music is always provided by soloists and ensembles singing a variety of inspirational songs ranging from traditional to contemporary, with some gospel and even country included. A youth “signing and theme interpretation” group also periodically blesses our worship times.

First Baptist is blessed to have several musicians who accompany congregational hymns and special music. They play piano, pipe organ, and keyboard. A modern sound system serves to ensure that all can hear each element of worship. Special aids for those who are hearing impaired are also available.

The 10:50 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. services are broadcast live over T.V. Cable Channel 6. First Baptist has an elaborate T.V. ministry that enables many people in Anderson County to view our services as they occur even though they may be unable to attend in person. We also have the equipment and responsibility for programming all the non advertising content of Channel 6 including taped services of other churches.

Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. is devoted to corporate prayer for those in need in our congregation as well as Anderson County. Once a month after prayer time the church’s monthly business meeting is held. Two times a month a family meal is prepared by our church cooks and served at 5:00 p.m. This precedes all of the Wednesday night children, youth, and adult activities and serves as a family time in this age when families have a hard time getting together.

We offer nursery care for your little ones, birth to age 18 months, during all worship services and many special events. We have a well-trained, caring group of volunteers who will make sure that your child is nurtured in a safe and friendly environment. We have a paging system that quietly notifies parents if they are needed in the nursery for any reason during the worship service.

All these worship opportunities are provided so that we may come together as individuals, families, and a congregation and give praise and adoration to our God the King of Creation!
